The Edwin Jagger manufacturing company may be less than forty years old, but its story has been centuries in the making. Forged in the historic city of Sheffield, England, the company's roots can be traced back to 1794 when records document the Sheffield cutlery industry utilizing power from five of the city's seven rivers to forge knife blades.
In 1912, Sheffield native Harry Brearley made a significant advancement for the industry when he discovered stainless steel at the Brown Firth Laboratories. Years of experience in the Sheffield cutlery industry later inspired Neil Jagger to create the first Edwin Jagger razor in 1988, initiating the company's journey.
The increasing demand and customer interest led Edwin Jagger to introduce its first shaving brush in 1990, the perfect accompaniment to a handmade razor. In 1992, the company moved to a dedicated workshop in the Sheffield cutlery quarter, employing artisan craftsmen to assist in production. Inspired by razors of the 1930s, the Chatsworth Collection, the company's longest-running range, was introduced in 1996.
The new Edwin Jagger factory opened in the heart of Sheffield's historical manufacturing district in 1997. The arrival of new CNC computer-controlled turning machines allowed the company to produce more sleek and modern designs in 2000. In 2007, Edwin Jagger introduced its expertly formulated range of soaps and creams, providing users with an incredible post-shave feeling.
The first Edwin Jagger DE safety razor was launched in 2008, with each razor bearing the "DE8" moniker to honor the release of the single-blade range. In 2017, Edwin Jagger was appointed as one of only three Gillette Trusted Partners in the world, certifying the parts used are genuine. The pinnacle of the company's shaving instruments, the 3ONE6 stainless steel razors, were introduced in 2019, crafted in the UK's 'Steel City'.
Committed to sustainability, Edwin Jagger replaced animal hair with synthetic fibers in the majority of its shaving brushes in 2020, offering a more environmentally-friendly alternative to badger hair.
Today, Edwin Jagger's medium best badger shaving brush features a lightweight, crafted handle with a sleek and sophisticated imitation ivory design. The brush's strong, water-retaining fibers provide a firm, massaging effect that effectively exfoliates the face, lifts the facial hair, and prepares the beard for a comfortable, close shave.
Sculpted to fit neatly in the hand, the brush's classic design with a shoulder around the middle of the handle and a flared base is finished with the Edwin Jagger logo, proudly displaying the manufacturing quality. Suitable for beginners, intermediates, and professionals, this unisex shaving brush is delivered in smart presentation packaging, including a care booklet and instructions, making it an ideal gift.
