The manufacturing company Edwin Jagger may be less than forty years old, but its story has been centuries in the making. Records of the Sheffield cutlery industry begin in 1794 with knife blades forged using power from five of the city's seven rivers. In 1912, Sheffield native Harry Brearley discovered Stainless Steel at the Brown Firth Laboratories, a significant advancement for the industry. Years of experience in the Sheffield cutlery industry gave Neil Jagger the inspiration to create the first Edwin Jagger razor in 1988. Increasing demand and customer interest led the company to introduce its first shaving brush, the perfect accompaniment for a handmade razor, in 1990.
Edwin Jagger moved to a dedicated workshop in the Sheffield cutlery quarter in 1992 and employed artisan craftsmen to assist in production. Inspired by razors of the 1930s, the Chatsworth Collection, the company's longest running range, was introduced in 1996. The new Edwin Jagger factory opened in the heart of Sheffield's historical manufacturing district in 1997. The arrival of new CNC computer-controlled turning machines allowed Edwin Jagger to produce more sleek and modern designs in 2000. In 2007, the company introduced its expertly formulated range of soaps and creams, which give skin an incredible post-shave feeling.
The first Edwin Jagger DE safety razor was launched in 2008, with each razor having "DE8" in its name to honour the release of the single blade range. In 2017, Edwin Jagger was appointed as one of only three Gillette Trusted Partners in the world, certifying the parts used are genuine. The company's 3ONE6 stainless steel razors, crafted in the UK's 'Steel City' and the pinnacle of Edwin Jagger shaving instruments, were introduced in 2019. In 2020, Edwin Jagger replaced animal hair with synthetic fibres in the majority of its shaving brushes, a sustainable alternative to badger hair.
This medium silver tip shaving brush features a lightweight crafted handle and, when used with a quality shaving cream or soap, will create a rich shaving lather. The fibres in this brush are particularly strong and provide a firm massaging effect, highly effective at exfoliating the face, lifting the facial hair and preparing the beard for shaving. A quality brush will lead to a comfortable shave with less cuts and irritation. Sculpted to fit neatly in your hand, this brush has a slender design with a shoulder around the middle of the handle and a flared base, finished with the Edwin Jagger logo as a mark of manufacturing quality.
