In 1945, Otto Johannes Müller founded the MÜHLE business after returning from the war, creating the first shaving brushes and designing the iconic MÜHLE signet. Under the leadership of Hans-Jürgen Müller, MÜHLE grew to employ 40 people and expanded its reach to 36 countries by 1965. However, in 1972, the company was expropriated under pressure from the German Democratic Republic, and it was rebranded to manufacture brushes solely for the state.
After the fall of the Berlin Wall, Hans-Jürgen Müller regained the family business in 1990, trading as Hans-Jürgen Müller KG while retaining the MÜHLE signet. The post-reunification years were a struggle, but little by little, the company won back customers and rehired former employees, celebrating its 50th anniversary in 1995.
The new millennium ushered in a period of growth, as MÜHLE expanded its offering to a full range of wet shaving goods, and the brand came to the forefront. In 2021, the company launched the first safety razor designed with the needs of all users in mind, regardless of gender, further cementing its commitment to innovation and inclusivity.
